The charity auction supports Save the Children, and in connection with Sotheby’s more than 500 Barbie’s were shown at Salone dei Cinquecento. The Barbie’s shown at the auction were from around the world in a celebration of what Barbie’s can be to different cultures and countries.Mattel is celebrating the 50th anniversary of Barbie this year, and there are thousands of different Barbie’s around the world for every occasion and culture.According to a series of 1960s Random House novels Barbie’s full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. Barbie attended Willows High School, and has an on again, off again boyfriend named Ken whom she met in 1961.
